The charm of Broadway

Leaving a beloved place always return to it at some point. Broadway in New York City is a place for me, and I back so often can it like me. Sometimes I take a flight guard and then a taxi to JFK or La airport to a hotel in Manhattan near or Broadway; at other times, I will return to it, my heart and my writings.

Broadway has inspired many poets. From the old school, Sandcastle has the pessimistic look when he says: «hearts you know hate /...» The dreams that were lost curse / in the dust of your rough and niedergetrampelt stones. "Walt Whitman's excited and dynamic words describe more what I feel about this plot of New York City:" florid with blood, thoughtful, considerations hot passion / sultry with perfume, with abundant and flowing dresses undivided. "" In fact, is "Broadway" and was the theatre district, not only for the United States, but also for the whole world

Broadway, extends the Broadway with Times Square at its core today from 34th Street to the 56th, the East and the West of the Avenue, called. Broadway is famous for his stage shows. The longest running Broadway shows so far are Les Misérables, A chorus line, the Phantom of the Opera, cats, Oh! Calcutta, beauty and the beast and rent.

Broadway's is always a theater district far back to the time before the revolution. Mid century when the staging of the plays of Shakespeare wanted to bring two actors to Manhattan, Broadway were sown in the seeds. The first Theatre in Manhattan was in Nassau Street. Later Barnum operated an entertainment p.t. complex on Broadway and Prince Street. During the first years, a variety of shows was operating and the middle class. If the Astor Place Theatre opened rose this theatre goers in a, appeal against the ruling class audience.

The first performance added dance and music for the black crook, 1866. Its duration was five and a half hours. This musical attracted so many audience quality entertainment was musicals. At the turn of the twentieth century were some of the earliest musical Cakewalk, George Washington Jr., a trip to the Coontown, fortune-teller, little Johnny Jones and 45 minutes from Broadway.

Twentieth century babes in Toyland, naughty Marietta and the Red Mill brought. Since colored lights not long white lamps currently used; so, Broadway took the nickname "the great white way."

The advent of film industry and the actors Equity Association strike were feared to Broadway standstill; on the contrary: flourished during the roaring twenties, Broadway and his merry repertoire and Ziegfeld revues added serious drama. Oklahoma was first hit. This time, Noel Coward, Rudolf Friml, Sigmund Romberg produced unforgettable work alongside with the eternal Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, and Rodgers and Hart.

Then, 1947, evolved Tony Awards recognize the best performers and benefits the American Theater and especially Broadway. Today, most shows for profit by the many Theatre facilities are in the area although some of non profit organizations such as the roundabout theatre company, Manhattan Theatre Club and the Lincoln Center Theater production. On the average run click musicals over not musical plays, and some of the successful musicals and plays on tour in other cities go in the low season or close your curtains on Broadway.

In addition to the Broadway theater district offer smaller off Broadway theater, between 57th and 72nd streets are less respected, less expensive, more experimental and daring plays. Occasionally, a successful off Broadway show on a Broadway stage is run later. Rent, little shop of horrors, Godspell, chorus line, Sunday in the park with George among such works.

Then, in Manhattan attention you off off Broadway theater with less that 100 seats for staging smaller amateur performances such as flea Theater in TriBeCa before. After k. W. Bromley in its acceptance an innovative Theatre Award called in 2005 to off off Broadway "Indie Theatre", are off Broadway shows indie theater shows sometimes called.

Biggest rival is Broadway shows television today. The best plays and musicals and the most talented Theatre actors to which corniest TV shows for public recognition to compete, mainly because of high costs of tickets and the amount of people a theatre can hold. Watching a live stage show, is a serious game, or a musical a great thrill can be allocated by the movies or television.

For me, add the streets of Broadway line Theatre, musicals, comedy clubs, and movie houses. Broadway and times square is where I can go to and from two to five - star hotels, coffee shops like Starbucks, Diners and gourmet restaurants; or where can I browse through all kinds of shops, but above all gift shops, the theatre utensils like props, to sell costumes and masks; or can I walk and the excitement of the other pedestrians to absorb the street corner preachers and the lights of the facilities while I watch the limousine, performances and actors, actors bring the autographs of the theatre building, or to sell an occasional scalper last minute tickets shows the corner of his eye guard the whereabouts of the police.

As Whitman, I also "arise, answering, rise in the sidewalks, merge with the quantity and gaze," because with all its Coquettishness Broadway makes life around turn our drama of existence.
